NorfolkAll guest rooms are luxuriously furnished, have plush carpeting and deep velour soft furnishings. The guest rooms all have bedside lamps, dressing tables, and built-in wardrobes, besides luggage racks. Every room has a telephone and telephone directory, direct dialling facilities, a television linked to satellite dish, electrical mosquito repellent and air conditioning. Back-up generators in the hotel allow for 24-hour electricity.

All the bathrooms have 115\240 v shaving sockets, shampoo, body lotion, bath and shower gel and bathrobes, overhead showers/bath-tubs, flush toilets, washbasin, hot and cold running water, insecticide, water tumblers and the suites, jars of cotton wool balls and weighing scales.



The ArkOpened in November 1969 The Ark overlooks the Yasabara waterhole, perhaps the largest salt-lick in the Aberdare Mountains and the haunt of a variety of forest game unequalled in Africa. This tree-lodge is uniquely shaped to resemble the actual Ark, designed with decks from which numerous balconies and lounges provide superb vantage points for viewing the animals visiting the salt-lick and waterhole. A ground-level bunker provides excellent photographic opportunities, and the Yasabara waterhole is floodlit by night to enable all-night viewing of game. A "Resident Hunter" is always on hand to elucidate on the wildlife and landscape.

The ArkAccess to vehicles is limited to conserve and protect the environment which hosts wildlife such as elephant, rhino, buffalo, bush bucks, giant forest hogs, Sykes monkey, leopard, and bongo. After lunch at The Aberdare Country Club guests take a 45-minute game drive within the National Park arriving at The Ark in time for afternoon tea.




Aberdare CountryNestling on the slopes of Kamatongu Hill, the cottages of the Aberdare Country Club offer splendid views of the plains below with the Aberdare range of mountains to the West and Mt Kenya to the East. Originally the private residence of a wealthy English family, the house was called “Steep”, the main building consisting of the present dining room, lounge and bar, built in the early 30’s with a total of 6 bedrooms.

The Club now has 46 guest rooms, and is situated on 1,300 acres of now electrically fenced private land, home to several species of plains game. To be found in this beautiful sanctuary are eland, waterbuck, giraffe, zebra, impala, ostrich, warthog, bush pig and two leopards. The Aberdare Country Club is a haven of unhurried charm, set in gardens bursting with the profuse colour of over one hundred species of flowers. Tables are scattered, and the numerous birdbaths dotting the grounds are visited by many different varieties of birds.
Aberdare Country clubThe Club has a total of 46 en-suite rooms, of which 19 are double bedded and 29 are twin bedded. 38 of the guest rooms are in cottages with 2 bedrooms with interconnecting doors. Most guest rooms have fireplaces. Some of the guest rooms can be converted to triples. 9 extra beds are available. “Honeysuckle Cottage” set above the main building comprises of one double-bedded room, one twin-bedded room and one single room, in a cottage on its own, with two separate bathrooms.

Each room is furnished with bedside tables, dressing tables, built-in wardrobes, rugs, coffee tables and lounge chairs; telephone; water flasks and drinking glasses; umbrella; tea and coffee making facilities; bible. Each bathroom has 115\240 v shaving socket; shower stall, separate bathtub, washbasin and flush toilets. Room 1 and rooms 7 to 17 have baths with shower attachments (no separate shower stalls); shampoo, bath and shower gel; freshly laundered towels; hot and cold running water.


Mara Safari ClubYour base for the adventure is the Mara Safari Club, which lies in the north west of the Masai Mara, at the foot of the Aitong Hills. The camp is positioned on an ox-bow of the Mara River, so that all en-suite tents have a view of the hippo-filled river. The lodge is surrounded by well-cultivated gardens dotted among indigenous trees.

here is a total of 50 tents, of which 42 are twin-bedded and 8 double-bedded. 10 of these double bedded-tents are Premium tents and have sunken baths in the bathrooms. There is also a platform between these tents and the standard tents, allowing for superb game-viewing and private dining.

Mara Safari ClubThe luxurious en-suite tents, spread along an ox-bow of the Mara River, are erected on a concrete plinth and each have a game-viewing verandah. These tents have been superbly furnished to the highest possible standards with netted four-poster beds and permanent bathrooms. All tents have water flasks with glasses, insecticide and air-freshener, 220v electrical sockets, "lamps" (electrical), dressing table and hand-woven rugs and poster-bed drapes. All bathrooms have a shower stall or bath, flush toilets in bathroom, washbasin, Lonrho shampoo, hand and body lotion, shower and bath gel, and freshly laundered towels, solar-heated hot- and cold running water, windows with mosquito gauze and flaps, a flashlight and an umbrella. All tents have square-pin electric sockets for easy charging of video cameras, cameras and other electric gadgets. Adapters are available from Reception.

Ol Pejeta RanchOl Pejeta Ranch House lies in the heart of Ol Pejeta Ranch, 90,000 acre of private ranch land, on the western foothills of Mt. Kenya. The 24,000 acre Sweetwaters Game Reserve is located in Ol Pejeta and provides unrivalled game viewing opportunities.

The Ranch House offers exclusivity for a maximum of twelve guests, in six luxury suites. The house is furnished with original and unique paintings and artefacts, and overlooks tropical gardens, two swimming pools and a waterhole.

Ol pejeta RanchThe main house, previously owned by Adnan Khashoggi, has a master bedroom with a 12’x12’ bed, private lounge, dressing room and oversize bathroom. The house has a lounge, dining room, television room and a large verandah. Buffalo cottage, originally built to accommodate Khashoggi’s children, consists of two en-suite rooms.

Mara SerenaPerched on the saddle of a hill, the Mara Serena Safari Lodge has one of the most spectacular views imaginable across the vast plains, forests and rivers that make up the Masai Mara – one of the world’s richest wildlife sanctuaries. It is on this very terrain that the annual migration takes place when millions of zebra, wildebeest and gazelle cross the plains below, on their way to the rich new grasses of the Serengeti. This is a spectacle that should be witnessed at least once in a lifetime.

The hotel has been designed to mirror a traditional Masai village or Manyatta and all the guest rooms are located in individual domed huts grouped in a circular manner. The furnishings of each room have been inspired by traditional Masai art and each one has a private balcony with views that stretch over the vast African landscape.

Mara serenaThe lodge has a sky-blue swimming pool perched on the edge of the hill, a restaurant that overlooks a
waterhole where wildlife gather and several treatment rooms where you can enjoy a range of relaxing massages.

Amboseli SerenaNestled in the foothills of Kilimanjaro, hidden beneath a copse of giant acacia trees and beside a gently flowing natural spring lies Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge. With Kilimanjaro’s 6,000-meter-high snow-capped peaks rising behind the lodge and presiding over the landscape, which boasts more big game than almost anywhere else in Africa, the setting is nothing short of magnificent.

Inspired by local Masai architecture, the design of the lodge is in total harmony with the environment. Each guest room conveys a distinctive Masai Manyatta mood and is furnished with authentic African murals painted by a local artist.

As part of Serena Hotels’ dedication to conserving the fragile environment of the African Bush, guests are invited to plant a tree to help reforestation of the land that was becoming barren from the herds of elephants tearing up the trees for food. Amboseli SerenaHundreds of trees have been planted to date. The lodge’s naturalist also gives informative talks on the environmental issues relating to the Amboseli National Park.

Kilaguni serenaLocated on a ridge that commands magnificent sweeping views of the Chyulu Hills at the foot of Mount
Kilimanjaro, Kilaguni was the first safari lodge ever to be built in a national park and has long been a favourite of international tourists. It was opened in 1962 and has been under Serena management since December 1999.

Taking its name from a Kamba word meaning ‘young rhino’, the lodge is located in the middle of the worldrenowned Tsavo National Park: an area covering 20,720 square kilometres that boasts a huge population of elephants.

The hotel has 56 bedrooms and a fabulous terrace from which you can witness spectacular African sunsets. Its waterhole is considered to offer the finest terraced savannah game viewing in Kenya, and at night you can listen to the sounds of Kilaguni serenaherds of buffalo and elephant grazing outside your bedroom.

Activities include game drives; excursions to Mzima Springs, with its crystal clear water welling up from volcanic rocks and its hippos and crocodiles; The Rhino Sanctuary; Chaimu Lava Floor; Sheitani Lava; and Roaring Rocks, a volcanic hill formation with caves and rocks.


Samburu SerenaThe Samburu Serena Safari Lodge is located in the centre of the Samburu Game Reserve, a semi-arid, open
savannah plain broken by small rugged hills in Kenya’s Northern Province. Situated on the banks of the Uaso Nyiro River with its crocodiles and leopards, the lodge is rustic yet sophisticated and captures the robust rhythms of riverside life.

Making full use of native materials and artwork, blending in perfectly with the environment, all guest rooms are located in wooden thatched cottages surrounded by lush gardens. Each cottage has a private verandah overlooking the river so that the crocodiles can be seen feeding.

Samburu SerenaGame drives and bird-watching safaris are extra special at Samburu as the nature reserve is renowned for a range of rare game: Reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebra, the long-necked gerenuk and the Beisa oryx. There are also over a hundred species of birds including the Somali ostrich.

The hotel boasts 62 rooms, including eight family rooms and a superb swimming pool surrounded by thatched umbrellas and native trees.

Mt. LodgeLocated at 2,194 metres on the slopes of Mount Kenya, Serena Mountain Lodge is surrounded by
a dense rainforest that comes alive at dusk with a myriad of sounds that make the African bush so special and exhilarating.

Considered the most spectacular forest waterhole in the Aberdares, the lodge’s waterhole presents a constant ballet of wildlife.

Just two and a half hours by car from Nairobi, this stunning area is towered over by the rocky peaks of
Mount Kenya and prides itself in having one of the most consistently high records of big game ‘visits’ and sightings. Elephant, buffalo, rhino and waterbuck are regular sights on the evening and day game drives.

Mt. LodgeAt any other time of the day you can spot game in the specially-constructed viewing bunker that is

Treetops HotelTreetops is the most famous game viewing lodge in the world. It overlooks a water hole and salt lick, high in the Aberdare National Park Salient. Solely dedicated to game viewing, the accommodation is compact and cosy.

From the comfortable lounge which features picture windows and trees growing through the building, this original tree lodge is legendary for its historical royal connection. In February 1952, Treetops is where Princess Elizabeth became Queen on learning of the death of her father, King George VI. This four decks lodge, rising straight out of the ground on stilts has a rooftop viewing platform. The platform provides a breath taking view of the visiting rhino, elephant, buffalo, lion, bushbuck, waterbuck and many other species.


TreetopsThe excitement of Treetops stems from the fact that although the animals realize you exist they still approach fearlessly. Not only is this the closest you can get to wildlife, but it makes a welcome change to have animals come to you instead of the other way round.

Is world famous for its historical royal connection. Princess Elizabeth learnt of her father King George the V death while on her honeymoon at Treetops.

It is also famous for game viewing and has been patronize by famous dignitaries from around the world including several heads of state.



OutspanOutspan in Nyeri is a 45 acres gracious, solid, comfortable hotel set in a well tended tropical garden with rolling lawns.

Its setting was carefully chosen in 1927, with views of Mount Kenya and framed by the white water of the Chania River, the Outspan is the nearest hotel to the spectacular Karuru Falls in the Aberdares National Park.

Lord Baden Powell, the founder of Scouting spent the last three years of his life here in a cottage called Paxtu. His rooms are kept as a small museum and this shrine is visited by scouts and guides from all over the world.

The rooms are spacious and airy, with fireplaces and garden access.

Shimba Forest LodgeAt the Kenyan Coast in Kwale, is a wooden tree lodge overlooking a watering hole in the middle of a tropical rainforest. This is Shimba, a spectacular award-winning tree lodge situated in the 192 square kilometres Shimba National Reserve the only remaining habitat of the sable antelope in East Africa.

kipungani explorerOverlooking a deserted 14-kilometre beach on the southwestern tip of Lamu Island, Kipungani Explorer is a dream destination for those seeking a true desert island holiday. mara explorerMara Explorer is situated on a broad, thickly forested bend of the Talek River in the middle of the Maasai Mara National Reserve, from where it enjoys prime views of the spectacular wildebeest migration between June and September. mara intrepidsSitting above a sweeping bend in the Talek River at the confluence of the Maasai Mara’s four game-viewing areas, Mara Intrepids enjoys one of the most spectacular locations in the Maasai Mara ecosystem.

The camp is a short drive from the Mara River, where more than a million wildebeest and zebra make their perilous migration crossing every July and August. For the remainder of the year, the camp offers some of the world’s finest game viewing, with large local populations of elephants, rhinos, buffalos, and all the Big Cats.

Mara Intrepids is 298 kilometres due west of Nairobi - a five-hour drive on well-maintained roads - while our all-weather airstrip enables guests to be at the camp within 45 minutes of leaving the capital city.

Our 30 luxury tents are widely spread across a large riverside site to ensure guests the optimum privacy and peace. samburu intrepidsPerched on the banks of the Uaso Nyiro River in the heart of Samburu National reserve, Samburu Intrepids enjoys a unique perspective of one of Africa’s most celebrated wildernesses.

The camp’s location deep inside the reserve guarantees close encounters with the region’s shier wildlife, including elephant, lion, leopard, and Samburu’s famous ‘unique five’ - the rare reticulated giraffe, long-necked gerenuk antelope, Somali ostrich, Grevy’s zebra, and majestic Beisa Oryx.

Located 345 kilometres north of Nairobi, the journey to the camp involves a 50-minute flight to the Samburu airstrip followed by a 20-minute drive or a four and a half hour drive from Nairobi for those with more time on their hands.

sina intrepidsSituated at the base of the Ngama Hills, on the
western edge of the Maasai Mara National reserve. Siana Intrepids occupies a lush indigenous forest watered by the largest natural springs in the Mara ecosystem - Siana Springs, or 'the plentiful springs' in Maa. The camp's location in the heart of the Siana Group Ranch offers guests unique opportunities for the private bush walks and drives on the game rich plains and along the seasonal streams beneath the Ngama Hills. Siana sister properties in the Mara reserve also offer the prospect to break all day game drives with lunch, swimming and other activities in the middle of the reserve. naro moru riverThe Naro Moru River Lodge is a 2-3 hour drive (170 km) from Nairobi and just 1.5 km from the main Nairobi/Nanyuki road, adjacent to Naro Moru town. safari beach hotelThe Alliance Safari Beach Hotel built in 1986 with 4 star plus status was revamped and updated in 1990 and again in 1996. It is a short walk up the beach from the other two hotels. Our water supply comes from nearby springs but guests are advised not to drink from the taps. Instead, filtered water is provided in flasks in every room and bottled water is available for sale. We welcome kids of all ages and can provide both special meals at convenient times and baby sitters on request. Our Guest Shop stocks a wide selection of curios, gift items, clothing, film and toiletries. The lodge has a freeform, fresh-water pool which offers spectacular views over the valley.
